TRON Lightcycle Run Drops Ares Movie Overlay

The limited-time TRON: Ares movie tie-in overlay was removed from TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom in early January 2026. The overlay had altered the coaster's lighting, sound, and visuals with a darker red-tinted look that divided fan opinion during its run.

The ride has now reverted to its original 2023 lighting and soundtrack, which most guests consider the superior version of the experience. The blue-hued lightcycle launch sequence and Jeff Bridges-era TRON aesthetic have returned.

Separately, the TRON Identity Program, a paid personalization experience where guests could create custom action figures with facial scanning, has permanently closed inside Tomorrowland Launch Depot. Disney has not announced a replacement.
