About this Restaurant

Announced in detail at D23 in August 2026, Harryhausen's is the table service restaurant in Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios, recreating the sushi restaurant where Mike takes Celia for her birthday dinner in Monsters, Inc. Disney says its head sushi chef will be an Audio-Animatronics figure using eight tentacles to prepare food in the center of the dining room. In August 2026 Imagineering said the menu would include sushi rolls and tempura with film-inspired names, Disney has said the menu goes beyond sushi, and in October 2026 it said its culinary team is exploring ramen bowls with tonkotsu broth, alkaline noodles, fishcake cut into eyeball slices and green eggs. No final menu, prices or reservation opening date have been published. It is part of the portion of Monstropolis Disney says will open in 2027.

Imagineering Files a Construction Permit for Harryhausen's, the Monstropolis Restaurant Replacing Mama Melrose's

Walt Disney Imagineering filed a Notice of Commencement on October 15 for Harryhausen's, the Monstropolis table-service restaurant taking over Mama Melrose's at Hollywood Studios, with a scenic fabrication firm as contractor. Elsewhere in the land, painters are hand-finishing the brick beneath cream trim shaped like rows of pointed teeth.

Disney Hires a Playground Maker for Monstropolis, as a New Imagineering Permit Hints at a Play Area Nobody Has Announced

A Notice of Commencement filed October 13 names Landscape Structures, a Minnesota maker of commercial playground equipment, as contractor for general construction in Monstropolis at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Disney has not announced a play area, but the same firm is building the Tropical Americas playground.

Disney's first look at specific Monstropolis dishes has Harryhausen's exploring tonkotsu ramen with eyeball-sliced fishcake and green eggs, and Archie's Scare Pig Pizza serving Blort, maybe as a purple frozen drink with Scream Apple Foam. No prices yet, and no opening date beyond 2027.
