The burgers are coming back to Ports of Call. SeaWorld Orlando has put a new date on its picnic page: Sunday, November 15, from 12 to 4pm, under a reordered headline that now leads with the military, the Military & Pass Member Picnic, and with a presenting sponsor, Navy Federal.

SeaWorld's sitemap dates the update to Wednesday afternoon, October 14, at 20:52 UTC, which is 4:52pm Eastern, and it was the only page in the SeaWorld Orlando sitemap with a change dated that day. The same page had been promoting the September 20 picnic, which we covered in September. Back then the headline read Pass Member & Military Member Picnic, which is still what the page's breadcrumb says.

The details

  • When: Sunday, November 15, 12 to 4pm, the Sunday after Veterans Day
  • Where: Ports of Call at SeaWorld Orlando
  • Price: $10 per ticket booked online (Pass Member portal or ID.me) until the day before the picnic, or $15 at Ports of Call on picnic day, subject to capacity
  • Who: Pass Members plus active-duty service members and veterans. The page says "Pass Members and Military Members only, along with their guests," with up to 6 guests per person, and a valid Pass or military ID is required for entry
  • Admission: you still need park admission and parking, neither of which the picnic ticket covers, and there is no re-entry

The fine print opens the picnic to Military Members and to holders of four active SeaWorld Orlando pass tiers (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Florida Platinum), and caps each member at 7 tickets.

What is on the menu

Same spread as before: hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, macaroni salad, pit beans and assorted cupcakes and cookies, with water or lemonade to drink. The salad still depends on which paragraph you read. The intro and the menu module say house salad, while the price block still says chef salad, the same mismatch we spotted on the September page.

Tickets are marked Available Soon

Both ticket cards on the page, the Pass Member Picnic Ticket and the Service Member & Veteran Picnic Ticket, are marked "Available Soon," and neither card has a Buy Now button, which both carried in September. Active-duty service members and veterans buy through ID.me, according to the page: "Log in to ID.me to purchase your tickets." Pass Members buy through the Pass Member portal.

Budget for more than the $10, though: the picnic ticket covers the meal, while park admission and parking are separate and required. Are you making the trip for the November picnic?

Update, October 25: tickets are now on sale

Both ticket cards now carry Buy Now buttons. The Pass Member Picnic Ticket links through to the Pass Member sign-in, and the Service Member & Veteran Picnic Ticket links to the military discount page, with the same instruction as before: "Log in to ID.me to purchase your tickets." Pricing is unchanged at $10 online until the day before, or $15 at Ports of Call on picnic day, subject to capacity. The guest limit still contradicts itself, with 6 guests per person in the event description and 7 tickets per member in the fine print.

A reader asks: which entrance do military guests use?

Hope wrote in to ask, "For military what entrance do we use to get our passes & activate everything?" Here is what SeaWorld's own pages say, and where they go quiet.

Short version: SeaWorld documents no separate military gate. You arrive at the main entrance like everyone else, and the step that actually verifies you as military happens online before you get there.

Do the online step first. Military status is verified through ID.me, which SeaWorld's military page still refers to by its older name, Troop ID. That is also where the $10 price lives, so there is a second reason to sort it before the day.

When you arrive. Ticket Services windows sit just outside the entrance turnstiles, and Guest Services is near the entrance. If your tickets are already in the SeaWorld app or saved on your phone, you can show them with photo ID and go straight through. If you need something printed, Guest Services can do it, but bring the card used for the order, your photo ID and the order confirmation number. Platinum Pass Members have a separate check-in to the left of the ticket booths, through the double doors marked with signage.

Activating a pass. Pass printing and rewards run through the self-service kiosks inside the park, under the Pass Members Only option, or at any Guest Service window. One thing to watch: the Military Silver Pass cannot be bought at the park at all, so that one has to be done online ahead of time.

On the day. A valid Pass or military ID is required for picnic entry, and the picnic is at Ports of Call inside the park, so park admission and parking still come first.

Where SeaWorld goes quiet: none of its published pages name a dedicated military redemption window, and its FAQ never says how many guest entrances the park has. If you want it confirmed before driving over, the park's ticket line is 407-545-5550.
