SeaWorld Wants You to Ride All Eight Coasters on Sunday, and Its Own Page Cannot Decide Whether the Prize Comes First or Last

Eight coasters. One day. A punch for each one. SeaWorld Orlando is running The Ultimate Challenge on Sunday, August 16 for National Roller Coaster Day, and the reward for clearing it goes to the first 1,000 participants only.

What the park has not quite settled is when you actually get the thing.

The wrinkle in SeaWorld's own copy

The top of SeaWorld's event page reads like a reward for finishing. Clear the whole set in a single day, it says, "and you'll earn a limited-edition commemorative poster and exclusive lanyard, available only to the first 1,000 participants."

Scroll down a few inches and the same page tells you to go get it before you ride anything: "Visit the SeaWorld Store to claim an 'Ultimate Challenge' lanyard and poster starting at 9am, while supplies last." A third line, set in bold italics at the foot of that same block, leans the same way: "Poster redemptions take place from park open until we run out. Available while supplies last to the first 1,000 participants."

News 6 went with the front loaded version, reporting that the first 1,000 guests receive the lanyard and a Mako 10th anniversary poster and then collect "a punch for each coaster conquered." SeaWorld's page calls the same item a commemorative poster and never attaches Mako's name to it, so this is most likely one poster described two ways rather than two posters. The store line also continues "Then spend the day riding every coaster in the park," which settles the sequence about as plainly as the page ever does. Reading it as a whole, the workable plan is the simple one: get to the SeaWorld Store at park opening, take the lanyard and poster while there are still some, and treat the punches as the scorecard rather than the ticket. The park opens at 9 a.m.

The eight, and what you need to be tall enough for

News 6 published the full lineup with height requirements. It is a genuinely wide spread, from a 200 foot hypercoaster down to a Sesame Street junior coaster.

  • Mako, 200 feet and 73 mph, billed as Orlando's tallest and fastest coaster. 54 inches.
  • Manta, flying face down through loops and water skimming passes. 54 inches.
  • Kraken, Orlando's only floorless coaster. 54 inches.
  • Pipeline: The Surf Coaster, billed as the world's first surf coaster, with seats that rise and fall the way an ocean swell would. 54 inches.
  • Ice Breaker, a multi launch coaster that finishes on a 100 degree beyond vertical drop. 48 inches.
  • Penguin Trek, a launch coaster built for families, and the ride finishes inside a real penguin habitat. 42 inches.
  • Journey to Atlantis, the water coaster with dark ride sections. 42 inches.
  • Super Grover's Box Car Derby, the starter coaster over in Sesame Street Land, and by some distance the mildest thing on the list. 38 inches.

Note that one of those eight, Journey to Atlantis, is arguably a water ride before it is a coaster, which is the kind of thing the challenge crowd will argue about in the queue. SeaWorld calls it part coaster, part water ride, and counts it, so it counts.

The shirt, and the two different lanyards

The SeaWorld Store is also selling a 2026 National Roller Coaster Day T-shirt, on sale August 16 while supplies last. News 6 reports the design features all eight coasters. SeaWorld's photo shows the back printed as a stat table, coaster names down one side with speed and height figures beside them.

Worth separating two items that are easy to confuse, because both are lanyards and both land on August 16. The Ultimate Challenge lanyard comes with the poster and is capped at the first 1,000 participants. The free Mako ride lanyard and pouch is a different thing entirely: it is a pass member benefit, you pick it up at Reef Treasures with an active annual pass, and it runs August 16 through 31 rather than for one day, again while stock holds.

The pass member Mako tours are also still on, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., 50 spots each, first come, first served, signed up for in person at the SkyTower Tour Desk, and SeaWorld specifies the pass member has to be present at sign-up. We covered those and the rest of August's pass member slate when SeaWorld posted them.

SeaWorld is asking finishers to tag the park using #SeaWorldCoasterChallenge. The park's own advice, for what it is worth, is to start early, watch wait times in the app, and eat something between rides.

Universal published a room by room walkthrough of the Sinners haunted house one day before Halloween Horror Nights 35 opens. The Sinners house was not on the paid lights on tour that matched three other HHN 35 houses to their codenames last week.
