The show building that held Poseidon's Fury has been demolished at Universal Islands of Adventure, leaving a few piles of rubble and a freshly graded sand pad where the entrance and courtyard stood. The Treasures of Poseidon gift shop and the first aid station in The Lost Continent are expected to follow. Universal still has not said what is replacing The Lost Continent.
Aerial video posted Saturday shows crushed stone laid down and infrastructure staged on the old Eighth Voyage of Sindbad site, while the Poseidon's Fury temple facade and the entire plaza in front of it are now gone. Universal still has not said what is going there.
New ground level photos show the Chamber of Poseidon stripped back to bare steel with a catwalk still hanging from the ceiling. A themed directional sign has also vanished from outside Mythos Restaurant, and the Lost Continent restrooms have quietly reopened.
A Notice of Commencement filed in Orange County lists Garmendale Engineering Limited of Ilkeston, England for an Equipment Install at Universal City. Every Lost Continent update so far has been about tearing things down. This one might point the other way, though the filing never names the land.
Universal said in May that Thunder Falls Terrace would close this summer to become the new signature restaurant at Islands of Adventure, but never named a date. WDW News Today reports it seems the Jurassic Park counter-service spot quietly served its last guests on Sunday, July 19.
New construction walls have gone up directly in front of Mythos Restaurant, and the Lost Continent restrooms have closed, leaving just four venues open as Universal tears down one of Islands of Adventure's six original 1999 lands. Mythos itself is still set to close permanently in 2027, and Universal has not said what will replace the area.
