Der Teddybär reopens in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion after six years, with no announcement from Disney

There was no announcement. The doors of Der Teddybär just opened, and an EPCOT Germany Pavilion shop that had been closed to shoppers since 2020 is selling plush and toys again.

AllEars.net and Disney Food Blog both reported the reopening on July 19, and AllEars noted that the return arrived unheralded. As AllEars put it, "Disney didn't announce this opening." For a World Showcase retail space that has been closed to shoppers for six years, that is a low-key return.

The quick version: Der Teddybär is open to all guests, with actual merchandise, for the first time since 2020. Disney Food Blog reports it is "now open from park opening to closing at EPCOT." Whether the reopening is permanent has not been confirmed.

What is on the shelves

The shop is leaning into what its name promises. AllEars describes it as "basically dedicated to plushes and other toys," and lists Steiff plush toys alongside "gifts that represent both Rapunzel and Snow White's homes," both fairytales, AllEars notes, being set in or inspired by Germany.

Disney Food Blog's walkthrough adds German toys, Haribo gummy bears, German cookies, and a wall of animal plush including pandas, penguins, raccoons, sloths and flamingos. The outlet also flagged one item for anyone who thought a teddy bear shop meant a gentle souvenir budget: a $450 Duffy Bear.

The 2025 tease that was not a reopening

If the shop looked open to you at some point last year, you were not imagining it. Der Teddybär briefly hosted a temporary Annual Passholder meet and greet in 2025, but as AllEars notes, "no merchandise was available to purchase at that time" and "Non-Annual Passholders also weren't allowed inside." That makes this the first time in six years that any guest can simply walk in and buy something.

The open question

Nobody has said how long this lasts. AllEars ties the open question to work elsewhere in the pavilion, noting Disney did not reveal whether "the plan is for this store to now be open from here on out, or only while Volkskunst remains under construction." That is the outlet's framing, not a Disney statement, and Disney has not addressed it either way.

The practical advice, then, is the boring kind: if you have been waiting six years to get back into this particular shop, do not schedule it for your next trip in 2027. Go on your next EPCOT day.
