The next Avengers movie is getting the souvenir treatment at Universal. Merchandise for Marvel Studios' upcoming "Avengers: Doomsday," part of a Disney-owned franchise, has turned up on the shelves at Universal Islands of Adventure.

Attractions Magazine reported that the merchandise was photographed at the Marvel Alterniverse Store, in Marvel Super Hero Island, on October 21, 2026. As the magazine put it: "Yes, Universal Orlando is selling merchandise for a Disney-owned franchise."

What is on the shelves

According to Attractions Magazine, the selection mixes items with the official "Avengers: Doomsday" logo and general Marvel merchandise with no movie branding. Items it spotted include:

  • "Avengers: Doomsday" T-shirt: black, with Doctor Doom looming over a crowd of Marvel heroes that includes Fantastic Four and X-Men characters.
  • Doctor Doom T-shirt: green, with Doctor Doom art across the chest and the film's logo printed inside the neckline.
  • Doctor Doom electronic mask: a voice-reactive wearable mask, boxed in "Avengers: Doomsday" packaging.
  • Doctor Doom Nerf blaster: a gauntlet-style toy blaster that comes with three darts, also in "Avengers: Doomsday" packaging.

Attractions Magazine did not list prices. The film itself opens in U.S. theaters on December 18, 2026.

Wait, how is Universal allowed to sell this?

Attractions Magazine traces it to a deal older than Disney's ownership of Marvel: "The answer goes back to 1994, when Universal secured theme park rights to Marvel characters, years before Disney acquired Marvel Entertainment in 2009."

That agreement is why Marvel Super Hero Island is still running at Islands of Adventure, home to The Incredible Hulk Coaster, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man and Doctor Doom's Fearfall. The magazine adds that, east of the Mississippi River, Universal holds exclusive theme park rights to some Marvel characters and the hero teams they belong to. As a result, Disney is limited in which Marvel heroes it can put in its Florida parks, while characters Universal does not hold, such as the Guardians of the Galaxy at EPCOT, remain open to it.

Doctor Doom is no stranger here: his Fearfall ride has been part of Marvel Super Hero Island since Islands of Adventure opened in 1999. Would you buy a Disney movie souvenir at Universal, or does that feel like crossing the streams?
