The Battle Bus is about to turn up at Halloween Horror Nights 35, with a pumpkin-headed soldier and a Skull Trooper fronting the artwork. Universal announced on Wednesday that Fortnite is coming to the event as a scare zone called FORTNITEMARES, which FOX 35 Orlando reports is the first time Fortnite has been featured at Halloween Horror Nights.

Freaky Fields

The zone drops guests into Freaky Fields, which Universal's announcement describes as a Halloween inspired living battleground overcome with a threatening force, as published by Inside Universal. Universal says guests will encounter the Battle Bus along with familiar FORTNITEMARES characters, plus a few new additions exclusive to Halloween Horror Nights.

Universal's own copy sets it up like this:

"The horrors of FORTNITEMARES are no longer confined to the island. Drop into this scare zone crawling with fearsome foes and brace for the Storm."

Where it fits in the HHN 35 lineup

Universal's official event page currently lists FORTNITEMARES alongside two other scare zones, Infernal Carnival of Nightmares and Sideshow of Decay.

Nine of ten houses have been announced, per FOX 35 Orlando: Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control, Sinners, Stranger Things 5, Hellraiser, Evil Dead Burn, H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular!, MADLANDS: Caged Cannibals, Cybergoria and INVASION: Alien Abduction.

Dates and merchandise

Halloween Horror Nights 35 runs select nights from August 28 through November 1 at Universal Studios Florida, with Premium Scream Night on August 27 and October 19.

FORTNITEMARES debuts with the event on August 28 in Orlando. A version of the zone opens at Universal Studios Hollywood on September 3, per Spectrum News 13.

Inside Universal reports that FORTNITEMARES merchandise, including a graphic tee, a decal set and an acrylic collectible, is available now at Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood, and reaches ShopUniversal.com on Thursday, July 23.

Universal Designed the HHN 35 Sinners House Around One Scene First, and Its Show Director Says That Is Not Always How Houses Get Built

Universal published a room by room walkthrough of the Sinners haunted house one day before Halloween Horror Nights 35 opens. Show director Ramon Paradoa says the team locked the surreal montage set first and designed the scenes before and after it around that, which he says is not always how Universal builds a house. The Sinners house was not on the paid lights on tour that matched three other HHN 35 houses to their codenames last week.
