Universal Confirmed the Ozzy Osbourne Haunted House, and Orlando's Version Is Not the One Hollywood Is Building

The leak was real, and Universal's confirmation went further than the ad ever did.

Universal has announced Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness, all-original haunted houses at both Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood. In Orlando it fills the last open slot in the Halloween Horror Nights 35 house lineup, one of the two that were still empty when the Pandora audio ad we covered on July 19 pointed at an Ozzy house. Universal never confirmed that ad. It has now confirmed the house.

The detail the leak could not give you: the two parks are not getting the same house.

Orlando walks into the album covers

At Universal Orlando, per the announcement, guests "will venture through ancient ruins and foreboding dungeons before boarding the 'Crazy Train' for a twisted ride into a realm inspired by the covers of his fan-favorite albums, Diary of a Madman, Bark at the Moon, The Ultimate Sin and Black Rain."

The write-up says this fantastical world "draws from the heavier sound and sinister imagery that defined the later years of Ozzy's career, transforming that creative evolution into a horrific journey through his unmistakably twisted imagination." Orlando, in other words, leads with the album art rather than the life story.

Hollywood leads with the life story instead. Its version "transports fans to where it all began, in Birmingham, England," starts with "Crazy Train," and travels "from his early childhood to the Osbourne Asylum, inspired by his iconic album Diary of a Madman," working through personas Universal names as Madman Ozzy, Werewolf Ozzy and the Prince of Darkness, "the moniker he earned in the 1970s."

Both houses are scored by his solo catalogue. Universal names The Blizzard of Ozz (1980), Diary of a Madman (1981), Bark at the Moon (1983), No More Tears (1991), Scream (2010) and Ordinary Man (2020).

Universal is calling it a memorial

Universal describes the project as a "non-traditional memorial" to Osbourne that "will span 45 years" of what the announcement calls his "outrageous and eccentric solo career."

Osbourne died on July 22, 2025, at 76, 17 days after playing his final show. That performance, billed as "Back to the Beginning," reunited him with the original Black Sabbath lineup at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5, 2025.

Sharon and Jack Osbourne gave a joint statement: "Ozzy never stopped pushing boundaries, and he loved anything that gave fans a new way to experience his music and the worlds he created. Halloween Horror Nights has done an incredible job bringing that spirit to life. Walking through these haunted houses, you'll recognize so many moments inspired by his music and imagination. It's a wonderful tribute to Ozzy, and we hope fans have as much fun experiencing it as he would have had seeing it come together."

Mike Aiello, Senior Director of Entertainment Creative Development at Universal Orlando Resort, said the team worked with the family directly. "We are honored to collaborate with the Osbourne family to create a unique haunted house that celebrates the legacy of Ozzy Osbourne," he said. "It was important for us to create an authentic experience that brings Ozzy's creativity and personality to life in an eerily immersive new way. Fans will discover so many meaningful details, including a few Easter Eggs, as they navigate memorable dark and twisted moments inspired by his iconic musical career."

John Murdy, Executive Producer of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, framed his park's house as drawing on the whole solo catalogue. "Inspired by all 13 of his albums," he said, "guests will journey through the dark, surreal worlds that fueled his music and cemented his legacy as the one and only Prince of Darkness."

The merchandise beat the house by a month

The tie-in items went out ahead of the event. A t-shirt and an Ozzy acrylic figure, which "can be added to the separately sold Infernal Carnival collectible display," were already in stores at Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood at the time of the announcement, and Universal said the pair would launch online "tomorrow, Thursday, July 30 at 9am PST on shopUniversal.com."

That online drop was scheduled for earlier today.

When you can walk it

Halloween Horror Nights 35 runs select nights from Friday, August 28 through Sunday, November 1 at Universal Orlando. Universal Studios Hollywood starts later, on select nights beginning Thursday, September 3.

And that closes the board. Universal set the Orlando slate at 10 houses this year, and Prince of Darkness is the tenth. It joins Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control, H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular!, MADLANDS: Caged Cannibals, Cybergoria, INVASION: Alien Abduction, Sinners, Stranger Things 5, Hellraiser and Evil Dead Burn. The house lineup is now complete.

Universal published a room by room walkthrough of the Sinners haunted house one day before Halloween Horror Nights 35 opens. Show director Ramon Paradoa says the team locked the surreal montage set first and designed the scenes before and after it around that, which he says is not always how Universal builds a house. The Sinners house was not on the paid lights on tour that matched three other HHN 35 houses to their codenames last week.

Universal is selling a $20 light up necklace that signals you do not want to be scared at Halloween Horror Nights 35, just not in the houses

The 2026 Deathly Afraid necklace is on shelves at Universal Studios Florida two days before Halloween Horror Nights 35 opens. It glows red as a signal that you would rather not be scared out in the open, in scare zones and other common areas. It does not guarantee a scare free night, and it is not to be switched on inside a haunted house.
